Back to growth in the fourth quarter
After some challenging quarters, we are pleased to see a trend break in the fourth quarter, and a recovering market. Both order intake, which amounted to SEK 408 million, and sales, which amounted to SEK 405 million, improved organically compared to the corresponding quarter last year - by 13% and 8% respectively. As communicated in the two latest quarterly reports, the gradual improvement in the market continues, but now also with growth compared to the corresponding quarter last year.
Our efforts to improve the gross margin continue to develop favourably. Despite a currency headwind, we see a gross margin of 61.6% (61.2%) for the quarter and 62.0% (61.1%) for the full year. The quarter’s operating profit amounts to SEK 75 million, a significant improvement compared with the previous year. The positive result is driven by a recovery in sales combined with good gross margins and low operating expenditures. Recovery in our main markets
After several challenging quarters for the Central European market, we now see double-digit growth in order intake for the quarter. There are several factors behind the recovery, primarily a more positive outlook from our customers. We also see that the electronics industry in general now have a growing demand, which put pressure on component suppliers and foundries - which in its turn is driving longer lead times that partly also causing our customers to increase inventory levels.
The U.S. market continues to develop steadily with a growth of a few percent in both sales and order intake - primarily driven by end costumers in the consumer and pharmaceutical industries.
Asia shows good growth in sales as a result of this year’s strong order intake in China and Japan. China’s large investments in wind power projects account for a large part of the growth. We foresee this to be a continued growth driver for HMS as China aims to become carbon neutral by 2060.
New Design-Wins indicate continued interest in HMS products
Even though many of our customers have had a challenging year, interest in HMS solutions has continued to be high and we have seen a record number of new sales leads, especially from digital events and campaigns. For products using our Design-Win business model, we can see a continued stable intake of new customers in 2020. In total, we received 165 (199) new Design-Wins during the year, and the total number of active Design-Wins amount to 1,820 (1,797), an increase of 1% compared to the previous year. Of these, 1,418 (1,399) are in production, while 402 (398) are expected to go into production in the coming years. Of this year’s total sales, 46% (49) are related to the Design-Win business model.
HMS2025 strategy launched in November
During the quarter, we presented the company’s new long-term strategy - HMS2025. This comprises new financial targets, which include a growth target with net sales exceeding SEK ’p’ (3.14) billion and an operating margin target of 20%. To achieve these ambitious goals, we will have an increased focus on acquisitions, which means a slightly adjusted dividend policy. Furthermore, HMS2025 contains new ambitions regarding our focus markets, sustainability, employees and customer satisfaction.
Acquisitions during the quarter
On October 1, HMS acquired 70% of the shares in Dutch Procentec B.V. The remaining 30% is owned by three senior executives in the company. The company, which offers hardware and software to monitoring and diagnostics of network traffic in industrial processes, will provide HMS with new opportunities for business with users of automation equipment. We see great opportunities to develop this business from today’s diagnostic tools to offer services that provide preventive support to reduce operational problems in our customers’ critical industrial networks.
During the quarter, we also acquired the remaining part of German WEBfactory GmbH. As a 100% owner, we can now increase the integration and use of WEBfactory’s software products together with other product segments, and we see great opportunities for new business that combines hardware and software.
A brighter 2021
The fourth quarter was a step in the right direction for HMS. Although there is still great uncertainty in the market and a risk of local lockdowns, we see that the world is adapting to the situation that accompanies the pandemic. We expect that 2021 will be characterized by a continued recovery and see that the growth trend has continued in the start of 2021.

Back to growth in the fourth quarter
After some challenging quarters, we are pleased to see a trend break in the fourth quarter, and a recovering market. Both order intake, which amounted to SEK 408 million, and sales, which amounted to SEK 405 million, improved organically compared to the corresponding quarter last year - by 13% and 8% respectively. As communicated in the two latest quarterly reports, the gradual improvement in the market continues, but now also with growth compared to the corresponding quarter last year.
Our efforts to improve the gross margin continue to develop favourably. Despite a currency headwind, we see a gross margin of 61.6% (61.2%) for the quarter and 62.0% (61.1%) for the full year. The quarter’s operating profit amounts to SEK 75 million, a significant improvement compared with the previous year. The positive result is driven by a recovery in sales combined with good gross margins and low operating expenditures. The actual receiver status is mapped into various synchronization states generally used by receivers. The driver is configured to interpret the time codes of Meinberg DCF77 AM receivers, DCF77 FM receivers, Meinberg GPS16x/17x receivers, Trimble SV6 GPS, ELV DCF7000, Schmid, Wharton 400A and low cost receivers (see list below).
The reference clock support in NTP contains the necessary configuration tables for those receivers. In addition to supporting several different clock types and up to 4 devices, the processing of a PPS signal is also provided as a configuration option. The PPS configuration option uses the receiver-generated time stamps for feeding the PPS loopfilter control for much finer clock synchronization.
CAUTION: The PPS configuration option is different from the hardware PPS signal, which is also supported (see below), as it controls the way ntpd is synchronized to the reference clock, while the hardware PPS signal controls the way time offsets are determined.
The use of the PPS option requires receivers with an accuracy of better than 1ms.Timecode variables listed by ntpq (8)
The ntpq program can read and display several clock variables. Currently, twenty-four clock types are supported by the PARSE driver and up to four (devices /dev/refclock-0 - /dev/refclock-3) of these clocks may be operational at any one time. A note on the implementations:

The development was done with the help of many kind souls who had the hardware and kindly lent me their time and patience during the development and debugging cycle. These variants have been tested for correct decoding with my own homegrown receivers. Interfacing with specific commercial products may involve some fiddling with cables. The reference clock support software carefully monitors the state transitions of the receiver. All state changes and exceptional events (such as loss of time code transmission) are logged via the syslog facility. Every hour a summary of the accumulated times for the clock states is listed via syslog.
PPS support is only available when the receiver is completely synchronized. The receiver is believed to deliver correct time for an additional period of time after losing synchronization, unless a disruption in time code transmission is detected (possible power loss). The trust period is dependent on the receiver oscillator and thus is a function of clock type.
Raw DCF77 pulses can be fed via a level converter to the RXD pin of an RS-232 serial port (pin 3 of a 25-pin connector or pin 2 of a 9-pin connector). The telegrams are decoded and used for synchronization. DCF77 AM receivers can be bought for as little as $25. In addition to the PPS loopfilter control, a true PPS hardware signal can be utilized via the PPSAPI interface. PPS pulses are usually fed via a level converter to the DCD pin of an RS-232 serial port (pin 8 of a 25-pin connector or pin 1 of a 9-pin connector). The actual receiver status is mapped into various synchronization states generally used by receivers. The driver is configured to interpret the time codes of Meinberg DCF77 AM receivers, DCF77 FM receivers, Meinberg GPS16x/17x receivers, Trimble SV6 GPS, ELV DCF7000, Schmid, Wharton 400A and low cost receivers (see list below).
The reference clock support in NTP contains the necessary configuration tables for those receivers. In addition to supporting several different clock types and up to 4 devices, the processing of a PPS signal is also provided as a configuration option. The PPS configuration option uses the receiver-generated time stamps for feeding the PPS loopfilter control for much finer clock synchronization.
CAUTION: The PPS configuration option is different from the hardware PPS signal, which is also supported (see below), as it controls the way ntpd is synchronized to the reference clock, while the hardware PPS signal controls the way time offsets are determined.

The reference clock support software carefully monitors the state transitions of the receiver. All state changes and exceptional events (such as loss of time code transmission) are logged via the syslog facility. If you are installing USB drivers: You do not need to download USB device class drivers. They are installed automatically. These drivers and their installation files are included in Windows. If you are writing a custom driver: Before writing a driver for your USB device, determine whether a Microsoft-provided driver meets the device requirements. If a Microsoft-provided driver is not available for the USB device class to which your device belongs, then consider using generic drivers, Winusb.sys or Usbccgp.sys. USB Device classes are categories of devices with similar characteristics and that perform common functions. Those classes and their specifications are defined by the USB-IF. Each device class is identified by USB-IF approved class, subclass, and protocol codes, all of which are provided by the IHV in device descriptors in the firmware. Microsoft provides in-box drivers for several of those device classes, called USB device class drivers. If a device that belongs to a supported device class is connected to a system, Windows automatically loads the class driver, and the device functions with no additional driver required.
Hardware vendors should not write drivers for the supported device classes. Windows class drivers might not support all of the features that are described in a class specification. If some of the device’s capabilities are not implemented by the class driver, vendors should provide supplementary drivers that work in conjunction with the class driver to support the entire range of functionality provided by the device.

This topic lists the Microsoft-provided drivers for the supported USB device classes.

*For composite devices, use USB Generic Parent Driver (Usbccgp.sys) that creates physical device objects (PDOs) for each function.
*For non-composite devices or a function of a composite device, use WinUSB (Winusb.sys).
If you are installing USB drivers: You do not need to download USB device class drivers. They are installed automatically. These drivers and their installation files are included in Windows. They are available in the WindowsSystem32DriverStoreFileRepository folder. The drivers are updated through Windows Update.
If you are writing a custom driver: Before writing a driver for your USB device, determine whether a Microsoft-provided driver meets the device requirements. If a Microsoft-provided driver is not available for the USB device class to which your device belongs, then consider using generic drivers, Winusb.sys or Usbccgp.sys. Write a driver only when necessary. More guidelines are included in Choosing a driver model for developing a USB client driver.USB Device classes
USB Device classes are categories of devices with similar characteristics and that perform common functions. Those classes and their specifications are defined by the USB-IF. Each device class is identified by USB-IF approved class, subclass, and protocol codes, all of which are provided by the IHV in device descriptors in the firmware. Microsoft provides in-box drivers for several of those device classes, called USB device class drivers. If a device that belongs to a supported device class is connected to a system, Windows automatically loads the class driver, and the device functions with no additional driver required.
Hardware vendors should not write drivers for the supported device classes. Windows class drivers might not support all of the features that are described in a class specification. If some of the device’s capabilities are not implemented by the class driver, vendors should provide supplementary drivers that work in conjunction with the class driver to support the entire range of functionality provided by the device.

Windows categorizes devices by device setup classes, which indicate the functionality of the device.
Microsoft defines setup classes for most devices. IHVs and OEMs can define new device setup classes, but only if none of the existing classes apply. For more information, see System-Defined Device Setup Classes.

The device setup classes are different from USB device classes discussed earlier. For example, an audio device has a USB device class code of 01h in its descriptor. 2. Add brancik-overlay.xml file to the /etc/layman/overlays directory with the following content:Sbig Driver Download For Windows 8.1
Advanced Uninstaller PRO will remove SBIG 64 Bit Driver Checker. After removing SBIG 64 Bit Driver Checker, Advanced Uninstaller PRO will offer to run a cleanup. Press Next to start the cleanup. All the items of SBIG 64 Bit Driver Checker that have been left behind will be found and you will be able to delete them. If Windows doesn’t automatically find a new driver after the printer is added, look for one on the device manufacturer’s website and follow their installation instructions. Open settings for Printers & scanners.
Or you can use layman-overlay-maker tool if you have >=app-portage/layman-2.0.0.
